Students in Jill Jones sixth grade science class constructed buildings out of marshmallows with the goal of having them withstand an earthquake.  Before construction they studied the practices that are used to make real buildings earthquake resistant.  Many students used technology such as base isolators and cross braces in their marshmallow building designs.  The students then fastened their buildings to the earthquake machine and tested their designs against a small scale and a large scale earthquake.
