Perdido School fifth graders had the amazing opportunity to take part in the Mobile Infirmary substance abuse prevention program this week.  Mr. John Aikens of the Mobile Infirmary, presented the brand new, state of the art, substance abuse prevention program from the DeBakey Drug Education Vehicle.  Students were treated to a 15 minute interactive video presentation featuring actual healthy and damaged organs.  Following the presentation, they moved to individual computers for a quiz and interactive time, learning more about specific drugs and the negative consequences of the drugs.

This amazing new interactive program was made possible by Marsha DeBakey and the DeBakey Foundation.  It was Dr. DeBakey's vision to teach kids about the negative consequences of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.  His legacy lives on in this state-of-the-art traveling learning laboratory.  The new bus made its debut in the Baldwin County School System at Perdido School on March 15th
