She's in it for the long run!

Perdido 7th grader TJ Thompson will be going to the 2010 USA National Games in Lincoln, Nebraska, as a member of TEAM ALABAMA, from July 17th to 24th.  TJ won 1st place in the 400M Sprint and the Running Long Jump at the State Olympics in Troy, Alabama, last May.  TJ has been competing for the past 4 years locally and has gone to state competitions in Auburn and Troy each year as well.

"We are all extremely proud of TJ," says Tamara Thompson, TJ's mother.  "This is very exciting for her.  She's worked very hard on her running."  Mrs. Thompson, who is also currently serving as PTO vice-president at Perdido, said that the whole family will travel to Nebraska with TJ in July.  "We'll see the sights if we have time," she laughs.  "But our main goal is to be together with her and to watch her do her best."

TJ feels the same way.  "I'm excited to go.  I'm not really worried at all.  It doesn't matter if I win or lose; I just want to have fun," she says.  "I'm really looking forward to spending time with my family and friends.  And I hope to meet some other athletes too."

Everyone at Perdido School is very proud of you TJ!  Good luck!
