WELCOME BACK to school - dinosaurs and all! Our K4, kindergarten and first grade students are getting to know some dinosaurs during library story/listening times this week in the library as we are sharing the book Dinosaurs Galore! by Giles Andreae. 

Our second through sixth graders have completed their first S.T.A.R. testing of the school year and are already checking out books on their individual reading levels with their AR bookmarks.  Seventh and eighth graders are completing their S.T.A.R. testing this week, and Dalton Hicks is the first of our older readers to earn an "Out of Uniform" pass by achieving his first reading goal of 100% comprehension on two AR quizzes so far this school year. 

Mrs. Bradley's second grade class has had an orientation already with our NEO 2 laptops in the library and middle school classes are beginning work on their research projects this year, with an oreintation/review of LMC on-site resources as well as working with the Alabama Virtual Library.

Our very first "Big Top" book fair will take place the week of September 13 - 17, 2010 and we would love to have as many parents, grandparents, and community helpers as possible to take part.  Just get in touch with us by phone or email (link at the top of the "Library Page") to volunteer.  

Indeed, we are off to a great school year!
